2017 Annual ORVC Basketball Awards Program

Gary Franklin

Another superbly enjoyed ORVC awards banquet was hosted at The Pines Restaurant in Madison on March 8 where the Ohio River Valley Conference Basketball elite were honored. Among the seven, ORVC school conference teams are Jac-Cen-Del, Shawe, Rising Sun, Southwestern Hanover, Switzerland County, South Ripley, and this year’s hosting school, Milan.

The gathering was called to order by Milan High School Athletic Director John Prifogle, who led the group in a prayer of blessing. Following the meal, the recognition of athletes and coaches and the distribution of earned awards was called to order by Milan High School Principal Ryan Langferman. Only one honoree was absent from this year’s awards program, Milan Indian junior Jed Minnich, who had been scheduled to have shoulder surgery that morning. His twin brother Zac (also an honoree) reported all had presumely gone well, as anticipated. Many expressed their thoughts and prayers of comfort, positive and quick healing for Jed.

The ORVC Conference provides a last time for many seniors to savor longtime friendships with other conference senior athletes from other schools. For some, the challenge of spring sports competition is right around the corner; for others, this was their last sports rally for their home school.
